How D’addario became a sponsor of the project
Can I take a minute to talk about how classy of a company, D’addario is? For starters, just take a look at all the gear they are donating to the project so we can keep the guitars performance ready. Yep. 30 sets of strings, string-winders, tuners, picks, etc… Check that off the list!
Yes, I understand this is what sponsors do, but there’s a bigger story here.
About a month ago, I received a message from a wonderful gentleman named Don at D’addario asking me to call him. Needless to say, I called back pretty quick.
Don had called to tell me that D’addario’s marketing team had come up with a campaign that he felt might be similar to the project, and he wanted me to know that they weren’t trying to copy me. How’s that for integrity? And honestly, the two things are really different. He’s just a stand-up guy that is a fan of the project.
And best of all, when I told him the plans for the project in 2014, he immediately offered the gear. And now, here I am with a gigantic box of goodies for the project (that had to be mailed twice by D’addario because I was at SXSW the first time it came though).
There are a lot of great people providing support behind the scenes to make this project something very special in 2014. D’addario is definitely one of them.
Interactive, Film and Music… The Acoustic Guitar Project was made for SXSW! (at Austin Convention Center)
A big thanks to @daddarioandco for sponsoring the project in 2014! Got the first shipment of gear in the mail today.
The hotel halls are filled with late night jam sessions at the #folkalliance conference. This is 3:30am. (at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center)
Victor from Minorbird.com sent me a preview pic of the SIX handmade guitars he is building for the project!
The scene at the folk alliance music conference. Hundreds of intimate acoustic shows in hotel rooms. Super friendly. Love it. (at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center)
